FOUNDER

Dr. Janathin Miller

Dr. Miller is the founder and CEO of the Minnow Lake Foundation, Inc., a 501(c) (3) with the mission of building and reinforcing relationships within families at risk through structured camping programs.  Her camping programs are so well received today that 41% of her volunteers are prior camp participants.

As a child in New York, Dr. Miller attended summer camps and realized the positive impact camping has on children and their families.  It was always her goal to create a camp program that would reinforce the family unit and strengthen ties between families and friends from diverse cultural backgrounds.  In 1984, when she was finished with her schooling and financially able, she created Camp Minnow Lake.  In 1993, she facilitated the incorporation of The Minnow Lake Foundation as a 501C3 Charitable Organization in California and continued to follow her dream

Dr. Miller was the founder of a number of engineering and technical training firms from 1975 to 2006.  These included Miller and Associates, Instructional Media, Inc., Training Technology Associates, Access Research Engineering, Inc., and Antin Engineering Inc.

Each of these firms, with the exception of Antin Engineering, was merged or acquired by organizations involved in related government contracting, DOD/Aerospace and Telecommunication Industries.  Dr. Miller sold Antin Engineering to System Technologies in 2005 in order to provide the ability to expand Antin’s Homeland Security/DOD business baseline.

Dr. Miller is on the faculty at Cornell University and was instrumental in the development of the PEP (Personal Enterprise Program) curriculum for the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences and the College of Engineering and Information Technologies.  She is also responsible for the development of the innovative program in Entrepreneurship and Technology that is currently accredited in the California State University System.  This program is designed to guide veterans and their families through the processes and procedures of starting their own businesses.

Dr. Miller has worked in the government contracting business for 33 years, having been based both in San Diego and in Washington, DC.  She holds four formal academic degrees in management and technical disciplines, including a PhD in Systems Management from Cornell University.  As a civilian, she attended Naval Post Graduate School where she also taught.  Dr. Miller holds teaching credentials for higher education in New York, Massachusetts, Virginia and California.  She is a University Founder, Faculty and Board Member at California State University San Marcos.
